Our Folding Process is Innovative
No Stretching. Foldstar fabricates structural cores directly from sheets with no in-plane strain or stretching.
Custom Designs. Our folding machines and design software enables customized core cellular geometries. We can optimize complicated multiphysics applications and designs.
Low-Cost. Our core making process is a low-cost alternative to making high-performance core structures.
Industrial Origami. In effect, we apply a new science of industrial origami to creating optimized core structures. We Create Folded Core Materials.
Any Material. We can fold many types of materials. Our process eliminates the issues related to stretching, especially with fibered materials. This is typical problem due to strain in the fibers.
Here is how that works:
Our industrial origami process forms cores without in-plane deformation that is typical with other forming process using core materials. Our folding process works with the following types of materials:
Paper, cardboard and fiberboard
Recycled materials including denim, other fibrous materials, and spent coffee grounds (SCG)
Carbon and technical fibers, woven and non-wovens
Metals, including aluminum steel, and alloys.
